Do you have your Pillar 3a already with Viac and would actually like to invest your private assets via the app? Or are you looking for a way to invest your Invest moneywithout having to think about it too much?
Then you're in luck! Because Viac Invest was launched in December 2024. With Viac, you can now easily build up not only your 3a, but also your free assets. And at very low fees.
In our Viac Invest experience report to find out how the new offer works, whether the fees are really as low as advertised and our other test results.
Note: We are of course unable to provide long-term Viac Invest experience as the solution is brand new, but we are constantly updating it.
Viac Invest is the new Asset management function from Viac.
You probably know Viac as a securities solution for pillar 3a. Instead of parking your pension assets in a savings account with an interest rate of less than 1%, you have been able to invest your pension assets there for years. Build up pension assets with shares.
Viac has since expanded its offering and has now launched a new "Invest" product.
The way it works is exactly the same as with pillar 3a. Based on your risk appetite, you can choose a Strategy that lead to a certain percentage from shares exists. The greater your risk appetite, the higher the proportion of equities. This increases the potential return, but also the risk.
To make your Wealth accumulation Viac recommends that you set up a savings plan. You can set up a standing order with your bank and pay in a certain amount every month, for example.
You can use the savings plan calculator to work out how much you will have saved in 10, 20 or 30 years.
At a later date, you can also purchase a Withdrawal plan set up a pension plan. This allows you to receive a monthly pension or additional income.
In practice: If you have withdrawn your pension fund assets as a lump sum, for example, you can invest them via Viac Invest and then have them paid out later as a monthly pension.
This is particularly exciting if you have paid in over many years and only have to pay out part of the expected return. For example, if you have saved CHF 1,000,000 after 30 years and only pay out CHF 30,000 a year, you will benefit from additional returns even with average performance. This means you can withdraw money and your assets can continue to work on the stock market.
Viac Invest offers a Flat fee to. Depending on the strategy, this is generally between 0.45 and 0.52%. This includes all custody account fees, brokerage fees, product fees, foreign currency costs and stamp duty and VAT costs.
It also includes an asset management fee of 0.25%. However, Viac will waive this fee until 31 December 2025, so you will save around 50% in fees when you invest in the first year.
You can find other, sometimes even cheaper digital asset managers in the Robo-Advisor comparison listed.
As you would expect from Viac, the Viac-Invest area appealing and clearly organised. If you are already using Viac's pillar 3a, you will also find your way around here, as the functionality is almost identical.
You have a free choice of strategies: you can either choose one of the suggested strategies or put together your own.
We are not yet able to provide long-term experience, but this will be added to this Viac Invest Review on an ongoing basis.
With the suggested strategies, you can choose between a Equity share from 20 to 99% choose. Depending on your preferences, your investment focus can also be "global", "Switzerland" or "sustainable".
In addition to the practical withdrawal plan, you can also up to 10 portfolios open an account. This is particularly suitable if you have different investment goals. For example, you can invest money that you will need in the short term over the next few years more conservatively. For assets that you are investing with a long-term investment horizon, on the other hand, you can choose a slightly more aggressive strategy.
The following also applies to Viac Invest No minimum investment amountso you can deposit as little as CHF 1
Viac Invest is particularly suitable for you if you want to invest simply and passively and benefit from low fees. Thanks to the Savings plan function you can pay in money regularly and build up your assets without having to actively think about it.
And even if you prefer to have a little more influence over your investments, you can still Strategy even completely put together yourself.
Later you can use the Withdrawal plan You can also benefit from a pension or additional income.
The functions of the new Viac Invest solution appear to be very exciting and clearly structured. However, we will only be able to gain real Viac Invest experience in the coming months and years. Then we will see how the app performs in practice.
Comparatively favourable alternativeswhich have been on the market for some time can be found in the Comparison of robo-advisors. For example, Finpension or True Wealth could be exciting for you. Both are on the market for some timeThe other two are more established and also offer very exciting functions and in some cases an even wider range of products.
Viac Invest, just like the existing offer for the 3rd pillar, is characterised by its Simple and clear user interfaceflexibly selectable strategies and attractive and Transparent fees off.
Now you can use Viac not only to build up your pension provision, but also also for your private assets use. Thanks to the extremely low fees, you also benefit twice over, as you hardly have to give up any of your capital. The management fee will even be completely waived until 31 December 2025.
As part of the Schwiizerfranke community, with the VIAC Invest voucher code you receive SFRANKE when registering (only for new customers) additional CHF 2,000 fee allowance - i.e. a total of up to CHF 4,000 excluding administration fees.

Thank you for the well-founded and quick report and comparison!
The subtle differences in detail between Finpension and VIAC need to be emphasised again here.

I grabbed the 2000 allowance for the leek. However, Viac actually came a bit too late - as I started 3b at finpension a few months ago...
Hm, the differences now lie in the details:
finpension with index funds, reduced US withholding tax for US investments, but with currency exchange and stamp duty. Very low TER, but slightly higher custody fee.
You started with the 2nd pillar (1e plan, vested benefits) and added 3a and free assets.
Viac with 30% US withholding tax, but no stamp duty because own CH index funds and no currency exchange. Higher TER in the funds, but lower custody fee.
The start here was with pillar 3a, then vested benefits and free assets later.
Overall, the two probably cost pretty much the same - around 0.49%.
I think they are well suited for beginners thanks to a savings plan and without a minimum deposit, with rebalancing etc. If the fees become too high (and you have more experience), you might want to move to ETFs with a broker with a (naturally more favourable) flat fee...
The fact that finpension immediately followed up on "Viac waives the 0.25% fee in the first year" and is now "cancelling the entire 0.39% fee holiday in 2025" is of course good for us 😉

I was also somewhat surprised when VIAC Invest recently appeared as a new menu item. It makes total sense to launch this product after VIAC 3A and vested benefits have been successfully offered for years. I think it's a very solid product for people who don't want to worry too much. VIAC is going the other way round from TrueWealth, which only offered 3b for a long time and is now also offering 3a. A very exciting market development.
What speaks against it for me personally is simple diversification of my investments. 3A and vested benefits are VIAC, but I leave 3b with two other providers.
