You're sitting in front of your tax return and don't quite know how to look for the security number? Or the Integrated security number search in the online tax return does not show you the desired result or does not find the number?
You're not alone in this, so we've written this short article for you and hope it helps!
If you have any more questions on the topic, we look forward to an exchange in the comments!
For all those who want to find a securities number quickly for tax purposes 😉, here is a tip that usually works:
Example: you want to include the UBS share in the tax return under securities and follow the instructions above:
If you want to search for the ISIN number, it is similar to the Valor.
However, if you cannot find the ISIN number at all, the security number or the name of the security will help you. You can search for the ISIN number using the following tools and methods:
The Online tax return (at least in the canton of Zurich) also has its own search function for securities. However, there currently seems to be a different algorithm behind the search. Some people have already contacted us and noted that they tried to find the desired securities or security numbers, but were unsuccessful.
We replicated the example search for the UBS share and found that simply entering "UBS" found countless other stocks and the UBS registered share does not appear on page 1. If you know the ISIN or the correct securities name (UBS Group AG), the search will work.
So you could in parallel use the Open online broker with current positions and find the ISIN numbers there. The broker's tax assessment notice also helps here, of course. Alternatively, we recommend the Search page of ITAX which we have linked above.

how can i declare the robo advisor "clever circle" in my tax return (in the canton of berne)?
...these are listed shares in Indonesia. One was found, two were not (search with ISIN and by name). One of the companies not found is even larger than the one found. Many thanks for a hint!
do you have the website for me? Gladly I look at it 🙂
Thank you very much! ISIN: ID1000128804
I can't find a valor for this in a hurry either. The best thing to do is simply enter all the data (ISIN) etc. in the tax form and any other helpful information on a separate supplementary sheet.
I can't find the valor number on the website either. What do you do then?
Not every security has a Swiss security number. In the early years, this also happened to me with some of my ETFs in my custody account, which is still in Germany, because they were not traded on the SIX. Without further ado, I always stated the ISIN in the tax return and self-declared the distributions or reinvestments. In most cases, the tax software for the next year at the latest had a matching securities number to hand.
Thanks for the info! Then I will do the same if necessary...
