Hardly any asset class has received as much upward momentum in recent years as cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin, Ethereum and many other cryptocurrencies are receiving increasing attention and a growing following. While just a few years ago only "tech geeks" and brave speculators were invested in cryptocurrenciesToday, you can also find major banks in the segment. If you want to invest in crypto assets without being a technical nerd and still want a wide selection and high security standards, you should take a closer look at Coinbase.
In our Coinbase Switzerland Experience Report we take a closer look at the crypto exchange.
If you have any more questions about crypto or Coinbase Switzerland, we'd love to hear from you in the comments!
When comparing crypto exchanges across Switzerland or even internationally, you should pay attention to more than just the fees. In our opinion, the following aspects are particularly important and we have incorporated them directly into the Coinbase review:
The rough facts of our Coinbase Switzerland review show numbers that speak for themselves. A decisive advantage, which is not apparent from these figures, is the user-friendly interface of Coinbase. Coinbase or Binance? While Binance currently ranks as the largest crypto exchange in the world, Coinbase positions itself very cleverly in our opinion through the clear platform interface and thus appeals to different customers than Binance.
A short Assessment and ranking of crypto exchanges we have already looked at? I'd love to:
To explain Coinbase fees and Coinbase transaction fees, it's best to break down the fees along the investment process.
Note: Fees are subject to change at any time. We do not guarantee accuracy.
Those who want to have tax-free payouts at Coinbase can only expect this on price gains. Price gains are still tax-free when trading cryptocurrencies in Switzerland. However, the situation is different for topics such as staking, mining or lending.
Generally, you always have to declare your assets in cryptocurrencies and include them in your tax return. Therefore, Coinbase does not simply deduct taxes, but you have to provide your cantonal tax office with the corresponding information.
Since tax issues can change at any time, there is no guarantee for this information. Please always check what applies at your place of residence.
Coinbase is based in San Francisco and not in Crypto Valley in Zug. Even though Coinbase does not have a branch office in Switzerland, many aspects speak for the platform. The wide selection of tradable CryptosThe fair fees, ease of use and clear interface are good examples of this. There are no comparable Swiss providers (yet), but this may not be necessary. We have been active on Coinbase for years and are very satisfied with our test results.

Hello
I need a tax report from Coinbase. Can someone explain to me how I can get one? Thank you and Sonja
Hello people and investors
Until then I had a very bad experience with Coinbase ! I wanted to get my investment of Fr. 8000.- paid back ! But
this amount ended up nowhere and even today I am still fighting for my credit! This has been going on for 7 months now and no one from
Coinbase is able to transfer this amount back !
For withdrawals (especially for crypto transactions), you should always first make a test transfer with a small amount with all providers.
In any case, good luck Max!
Hello: I feel exactly the same but the amount is a lot higher. Where can I go with a clear letter?
I am constantly being told by e-mail that my case is closed and can no longer be opened.
Dear User
i have been using coinbase for a long time but not really in the last few years. now i can't make any transactions because my account is being checked manually. this has been going on for 5 weeks now. i've tried everything, clearing the cache, accepting cookies etc, but it's still not free. contacting support doesn't work because you get disconnected from the computer. it's a known problem.... would love some feedback. is it my settings?
On Binance it is not possible to withdraw EUR to a Swiss account.
Is this still going on Coinbase at the moment?
Hello
My account has been blocked.
How can I get my money back from Coinbase?
🙏 Rudolf
Hello Rudolf
It's best to write to the support team. It will probably take a while, but hopefully you will be able to access your account again soon.
Dear greetings
Eric
I am having problems transferring USDT funds from the Coinbasewallet app to my Coinbase account.
I would have to buy ETH first, but I don't want to spend any more money, the USDT is relatively large.
Does anyone have experience?
Is there no other option?
Good day
I have made a transfer to Coinbase for the first time.
Is it correct that only EUR can be transferred with SEPA due to the IBAN?
And why are they then converted and listed in CHF on the account after all?
Does anyone know?
If I now buy cryptos with my account balance, will they be debited in EUR or CHF?
What matters to me is that the money is not exchanged back and forth x times.
Thank you for your help.
I have the same question - did you get an answer?
I am basically happy with Coinbase and am interested in Staking of Etherum, Atom, etc.. Nowhere on the platform is there an option to do Staking. Does anyone know why there is no such option on Coinbase in Switzerland? Which provider offers it for the Swiss?
Check out the staking on Binance an. Cake also offers exciting solutions.
i had a binance account and is a piece of crap, i cant withdraw money to a swiss account, my question is for every one can you withdraw money from coinbase to a swiss acount here in switzerland
When you use the invite link or code to open an investment account, both of us will get 12 months of 5'000 CHF managed for free. 😊
As a Swiss with CHF on the account it is unprofitable if I have to transfer € and exchange € back into CHF when selling bitcoin. So twice exchange rate loss (up to 15%).
Hi there. Thanks for the info. I am completely new to the whole crypto thing and I opened a coinbase account. I was wondering if (as a Swiss national) I can get a coinbase Visa debit card? Thanks
A complete joke the whole thing. I can't even add an account. Reaching support is a joke, the question combinations are impossible to fill out if you couldn't add an account. I will close this crap as soon as possible.
Hello Markus, I have just sold BTC extra for testing and exchanged for euros. Subsequently, the euros transferred to the bank account. Everything works for me without any problems.
If you don't even have an account yet - you should start by verifying it. To do this, you usually have to make a small transfer (about 1 euro). Only then is the account verified - but Coinbase actually guides you through these steps.
If you have not made a transfer, but have assets on Coinbase - they probably got there in another way. Simply use the same method for the return transfer. If you have PayPal, you can also use this without any problems.
Best regards 🙂
Hello Eric
I opened an account with Coinbase, would have received bitcoins transferred from a company, but was blocked by Blockchain, and was told Coinbase could not transfer payments to Switzerland. What do you say to that? I think everything is a scam?
MFG Peter
Hello, Peter,
the blockchain has probably not "blocked" your transaction. In general, your description sounds very suspicious. Nobody will simply give you Bitcoin. Please be very careful with such messages!
Sorry, transfer, not monitoring...😳
Hello Eric
Unfortunately, the monitoring did not work from my Neon account either, because I use a different email and my double name there. For security reasons, the data of the reference account, the ID and the information in Coinbase must match exactly. After all, my deposited amount was transferred back to my account after two days, without any circumstances and without deduction of a fee. It's all too complicated for me and I'm now testing Relai (just Bitcoin).
I also had the return transfer at the beginning, as you say without any problems or fees. It's a bit frustrating - but actually also good to see that the rules and regulations are so strict. After all, nobody wants to find a dodgy provider.
Relai is kept very simple and should work well 🙂
Hello Eric
Are you sure that this is still possible?
Hi Reto, it's best to comment directly under your last question. You have now asked a lot of questions - so nobody knows what you mean. If you mean exchanging krypton for euros - I've just tested it for you, so yes 🙂
Hello everybody
How can I deposit to Coinbase from a Swiss bank account?
Currently this only works via credit card...
How can I sell a coin without withdrawing the money? I would like to leave the money on the platform to invest again later.
How can I withdraw money to Switzerland?
Hello Reto
You can only make withdrawals to the reference account on file - this is a security aspect. You cannot make deposits from all banks, as some banks do not allow payments to crypto services. Neon should work. Otherwise, ask at Coinbase or your bank, here you should be given information.
Best regards 🙂
Hi Reto,
Paying out works for me only via Paypal, but still. Depositing was no problem even via Neon.
thanks for sharing your experience 🙂
Hello
I can't enter bank details for a transfer on Coinbase.
Can anyone help me with this?
How can I sell something without paying out the money so I can buy something new later?
Hello Reto
If you already have stocks, you can exchange them directly into a desired currency. Or, for example, acquire BTC as an intermediate step.
Hello Eric
Can the crypto assets be exchanged into Euro or CHF on the platform?
Hello Reto
of course you can. You simply click on your respective asset and in the overview you can either buy, sell or convert. Selling leads to a payout to your deposited bank account or to your euro wallet and thus remains on Coinbase. You can convert to Bitcoin, for example, and then buy something else with it.
Kind regards
Eric
Can anyone tell me how to get in reasonable contact with Coinbase?
The so-called support function on the website is completely useless because automated.
Specific questions such as: "Where is my money?" (because although I transferred CHF 500, I can't find the amount in my account - it's still at zero)
are not answered.
Hello Urs, I also had the case with Coinbase at first. Ultimately, it was because the bank used for the transfer had blocked the payment. The money was then back in the bank account after a few days. Maybe you have a similar problem. Use once Neon for the transfer.
I have already transferred money from PostFinance to Coinbase a few times, but first you have to make a deposit on Coinbase, then your bank details are also registered.
