How high is inflation in Switzerland at the moment?

How is inflation calculated in Switzerland?
Inflation in Switzerland is measured using the National consumer price index (CPI) which is published monthly by the Federal Statistical Office.
This index is recalculated every month, allowing a direct comparison with the previous month and the same month of the previous year. When we talk about inflation in general, this normally always refers to the Inflation compared to the same month last year (i.e. for the same month in the previous year).

The CPI measures the costs of goods and services that the average Swiss person uses on a regular basis. It is divided into the 12 most important output categories. These are:

- Household effects and ongoing housekeeping
- Healthcare
- Transport

- Leisure and culture
- Education and teaching

At the beginning of each month, the Federal Statistical Office publishes the CPI results for the previous month. The rate of change corresponds to inflation. Here you can find the current results.
He will reset to 100 points every 5 years. 1 point corresponds to 1%. The CPI is currently 107.7 points. This means that inflation has been 7.7% since 1 January 2020.
The Formula for calculating inflation is: CPI in the current month - CPI in the same month of the previous year *100 = inflation rate in per cent. Of course, this is much easier with our inflation calculator.
